Incredibly happy with the results. Now I reaaaaally want a truck, just so I can modify it .....
We’ve got a graffiti artist on the team, so I had him do it. $100 for the product and the paint gun off Amazon. Used about 3/4 of the spray. We used a little 120psi pancake compressor. Hell of a value compared to having a shop do it. I personally would have done the entire bed instead of leaving the sections on the side un-lined, but I gave full project authority to the sprayer, so we ended up some decoration in the bed.

Looks sharp. I’ve got liner in my D100. Get a truck!! But get an old truck. You won’t regret it.
.... Ok you might, but only once in a while

Seriously thinking about doing this to my truck. Which liner is this?

That cheap for the full on spray gun stuff? Tell me more...

Amazon links don’t always work for me on kinja so you get a screenshot!
Very well-reviewed, easy to do, and while I can't comment on longevity yet... It sure seems tough.

Hmm... I’m picking up a new vehicle on Saturday, which is fine because I have two parking spaces. Motorcycle scooter will come this winter, but that can be stored inside. A second Miata or maybe a newer car will probably be next... Guess that can get street parked. Land rover Disco II might join the fleet and get parked at my Grandma’s...
There's got to be a neighbor at my complex who busses to Microsoft for work and would let me pay for his parking spot.

Amazon links don't work when I post them into kinja.

What kind of prep did you do to the bed.

Brand new truck. Followed prep instructions and c l eaned the bed throughly, lightly scuffed the surface, sprayed. I think the bed liner spray is self-etc hing.

I used Herculiner on my truck on recommendation of another oppo. It's a roll on product. Love it.

Looks great! I miss my old Mazda B2300. Except that one time the brake lines rusted through when I applied the brakes and I blew through a four way stop. Thank God it was an empty intersection. Anywhoo, I would love another truck. Without a rusty underside.

Looking very nice! How much is a compressor? Considering the scuffed up state of my truck, and the hell that has been trying to spray paint one tiny piece for my car, getting a real paint setup for <$200 sounds very appealing.
Also, you should buy an old truck.

I saw an F350 last week and the entire truck was covered in bed liner. I wish I could have gotten a photo as it was hideous.

Yeah that doesn’t sound great. This stuff looks good now, but I’m a few months... Well. I’m not super optimistic . Probably a poor exterior layer in anything but the craziest offroad builds.

No clue! Already had this one at work. Guessing $100-200? Less on Craigslist?
Someday.

This is what my 12 year old truck’s brake lines looked like after one blew a couple weeks ago. Not pictured is the even crustier trans cooler line that was leaking.

Yeah, about $150 brand new for a decent pancake compressor.

Please provide the occasional update over time to see how it's holding up. I'm bigly interested in this product

Yaaaaaa. Just did that job. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be though. And can’t complain about the cost of replacements... I think I paid $95 for the full stainless kit?
![]() 10/18/2018 at 07:09 |
|
According to my auto shop teacher buddy, GM made the cost of the replacement kits extremely cheap in order to avoid a class action lawsuit.

I believe it. I was just happy no one was in front of me when the line blew at 60 MPH a couple weeks ago driving to work.
![]() 10/18/2018 at 12:41 |
|
I was lucky that I was in a deserted neighborhood at 5:15 am, trying to stop from 25mph. Fortunately I had decided to make a coffee run which was out of the way, then I swung back and picked my buddy up from his house. If we had left directly from his house, the line would’ve blown on the interstate while towing about a thousand pounds.

Oooh yea that would be a no-bueno situation.
